Artistic Appreciation: Seven Young Artists Dedicate Paintings to Premier Hospital Surabaya

SURABAYA, July 8, 2026 – Gratitude for the healthcare services received can be expressed in various ways. This was demonstrated by Kaylee Ann Siswanto, along with six young Surabaya artists from Art Reach, who presented paintings to Premier Surabaya Hospital through an event titled "Inspirational Moment: Surabaya Young Artists Share Their Artworks to Motivate Others," held in the Conference Room of Premier Surabaya Hospital on Wednesday (July 8).

This event served as a symbol of appreciation and an expression of gratitude for the services the young artists received at Premier Surabaya Hospital. The seven paintings will be displayed in the Pediatrics Ward of Premier Surabaya Hospital as part of an effort to create a warmer, more comfortable, and more hopeful care environment for pediatric patients.

The event was attended by Premier Surabaya Hospital's Chief Operating Officer (COO), Dr. Ariawan Wangsa Seputera, M.Kes., Premier Surabaya Hospital's Pediatrician, Dr. Deddy Iskandar, Sp.A., and Premier Surabaya Hospital's management.

In his remarks, dr. Ariawan Wangsa Seputera, M.Kes., expressed his appreciation for the care shown by the young artists.
"We thank Kaylee and all the young artists who have presented their best works to Premier Surabaya Hospital. These paintings not only beautify the hospital environment, but also convey a message of optimism, enthusiasm, and hope for every patient undergoing the recovery process. We believe that patient-centered healthcare also encompasses emotional and psychological aspects, so the presence of artwork can be part of the healing environment we create," said dr. Ariawan.

Art Reach founder, Kaylee Ann Siswanto, explained that this activity has a very personal meaning. Kaylee has received treatment at Premier Surabaya Hospital several times. The warm care and service from the doctors and nurses left a deep impression, inspiring her to one day return and contribute something meaningful to the hospital that once cared for her.

Through her Art Reach organization, Kaylee invites fellow young artists to present artwork that she hopes will accompany children during their treatment, bringing smiles, encouraging them, and reminding them that they are not alone in their healing process.

"I was once a patient at Premier Hospital Surabaya. I still remember how the caring care of the doctors and nurses made me feel calmer during my treatment. That experience inspired me to return, not as a patient, but as someone who wants to share hope through art. I hope these paintings can accompany children during their treatment, making them smile, encouraging them, and reminding them that they are not alone," said Kaylee.

Pediatrician at Premier Hospital Surabaya, dr. Deddy Iskandar, Sp.A., who once cared for Kaylee, expressed pride in seeing his former patient return with a spirit of sharing.
"Seeing Kaylee return in good condition and even wanting to share her happiness through art is a source of pride for us as healthcare professionals. The healing process isn't just about physical recovery, but also about how a person can rise up, find meaning, and inspire others. I hope these paintings can be an encouragement to patients struggling with treatment, as well as a reminder that there is always hope in every recovery process," said dr. Deddy.

In addition to Kaylee, six young artists participated in this activity: Madeleine L. Tongku, Michella J. Tongku, Joyce Zerlina, Mabelle Josephine Putri Dharma, Pricilla Irene Susilo, and Janice Aiko Kawilarang.
For Janice Aiko Kawilarang, this activity also holds special meaning. Janice was born a twin at Premier Surabaya Hospital, making this hospital a part of her early life. The opportunity to return and contribute through artwork is a form of gratitude and the hope that the work presented will bring joy to the children undergoing treatment.

Numerous studies have shown that a hospital environment enriched with positive visual elements, such as cheerful colors and artwork with nature themes or objects familiar to children, can help create a more comfortable atmosphere, reduce anxiety, and support the emotional well-being of patients during treatment. By placing artworks in the Pediatric Ward, Premier Surabaya Hospital hopes to provide a more enjoyable treatment experience for pediatric patients and their families.
